# Add an image / video carousel on top of your feed/homescreen

## **The carousel lets you easily show multiple news items, updates or other 'calls to action' visually attractively on top of your news feed.**

**1. Add carousel items**To create a carousel, go to the menu item: News \> Carousel Add as many images as you like. (4:3 aspect ratio; for best results, the image must be at least 1500px wide) The priority defines in which order the images are shown.
You can add links redirecting to other parts of the application or external websites to make the carousel even more engaging.

### **2. Choose the interval time**

You can also choose an interval time that automatically changes the image to the next image. To do so, select the menu item: Settings \> App branding \> Carousel Interval. Besides that, users can quickly swipe between the different menu items.

### **3. Video carousel**

It is also possible to add a looping video as part of the carousel, making your newsfeed more dynamic and visually engaging. If you'd like to use this feature, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager. Keep in mind that the video must meet the following requirements: a size of 1125 x 843 px, .mp4 format and a maximum file size of 10 MB.

# Crowd control with the venue occupancy module

**The Venue occupancy module empowers organizers to guide attendees toward less explored zones, helping to balance foot traffic and reduce congestion in popular spots.**
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Capacity_Screens.png)

Using the venue occupancy module enhances both the attendee experience and on-site safety. By providing real-time data on crowd density across different areas of the venue/festival. This not only improves overall event flow but also encourages discovery of attractions or vendors that might otherwise be overlooked. Additionally, the tool supports attendee safety and comfort by allowing individuals to make informed decisions about where to go based on crowd levels, enabling them to avoid overly crowded spaces and enjoy the event at their own pace.

This module allows venues and festivals to easily update their real-time capacity status via a secure, dedicated webpage. Designed with flexibility in mind, this feature enables venues/festivals to manage their occupancy independently or through centralized access, depending on your operational needs.

**✅ What is the Venue Occupancy Module?**

The Venue Occupancy Module is a user-friendly tool that allows authorized users to update your festival venue's current capacity status. This status is immediately synced with the venue's data in the CMS (Content Management System), ensuring up-to-date visibility for festivalgoers, users, staff end event organizers.

It is an integrated module onto the CMS. Each point of interest, stage/venue is monitored and displayed with intuitive red, orange, or green status lights---signifying high, moderate, or low occupancy, respectively. This can be also tailored to the statuses that work best to your event. This visual feedback allows users to quickly assess which areas are crowded and which are more accessible, helping them navigate the festival more comfortably and efficiently. By centralizing this data in the venue occupancy module, organizers can also respond proactively to crowd dynamics, enhancing safety and improving the overall event experience.

**🧩 Flexible Management Options**

Whether you're managing a large-scale festival with multiple venues or a single location, this module provides:

* **Complete flexibility** to define your own capacity statuses
* **Independent venue control** or **centralized access** you choose what fits your workflow best

**📞 Want to Learn More?**

Does this sound like a feature you could use? Contact your **Customer Success Manager** to get started or for help setting up the Venue Occupancy Module.

**The Interests feature lets you take charge of what you see, so your content always matches what matters most to you. About interests feature**

The **Interests** feature is designed to give users greater control over the content they see. With this feature, users can easily filter their newsfeed by selecting topics that matter most to them, such as artists, accessibility, food, camping info, or updates for a specific event day.

Once preferences are set, the newsfeed dynamically displays targeted news cards tailored to their selections, ensuring every update is timely and relevant. You can also send personalized push notifications based on these interests, keeping users engaged with the content they care about, no clutter, just what matters.

**Here's how it works:**

* ✅ **Select Your Interests**: Users can choose from a variety of topics---such as artists, accessibility, food, camping info, or specific event days.
* 📍 **Easy Access**: Users can access the Interests screen in multiple ways---during onboarding, from the settings menu, or through a dedicated card on the newsfeed.
* 📰 **Personalized Newsfeed**: The newsfeed automatically updates to show only the most relevant news cards based on the selected interests.
* 🎯 **Targeted News Cards**: You can display specific news cards in the feed that align with each user's interests, ensuring the most relevant content is front and center.
* 🔔 **Targeted Push Notifications**: Users receive real-time notifications tailored to their preferences, so they never miss an important update.
* 📲 **Focused Experience**: By filtering out unrelated content, users enjoy a cleaner, more engaging, and personalized experience on the application.

**How to manage interests**

Contact your Customer Success Manager to add this feature for you. Once enabled, you can manage and customize this content via the CMS in the **Interests** section, found under the **News** menu option.

There, you can:

* Add a **summary** for each interest

# Expert Filtering

**By creating tags you are able to segment content in your app so users can filter by artists, stages, genres, sponsors and much more. What is a Tag?** **Tags** allow users to browse through segmented content on the application. Users are able to filter content by their favourite artists, genres, sponsors, map (points of interest), as well as providing the option to show stages and filter them per capacity. See below a few examples from our customers who are making the best use out of tags in their applications: **Example 1= Tags on artist overview:**
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240227_165026_Shutdown.jpg)

**Example 2 = Tags on interactive map (points of interest):**

# Favoriting, Reminders and 'My Event' section

**We optimized the favoriting behavior in the event apps. Adding favorites and reminders for your favorite performances allows users to personalize their app even more.**The Appmiral platform has a specific way of visualizing data, especially regarding the 'timetable'.

The data model on this type of data distinct ++3 main data sets:++

* **Artists** (or players, riders, speakers, ...) \> including Name, Image, Biography, Music, Tags, and Social links.
* **Performances** (time-based shows, sets, events, ...) \> including Start Time, End Time, Stage, Edition Day, Priority
* **Locations** (stages, venues, ...)

## 1. ❤️ Favoriting = for Artists

Before, favoriting was only possible on a performance level linked to a specific time-based event. Favoriting a performance also triggered the 'My calendar' and accompanying Push Notification stating: *Artist X is about to start performing in 15 minutes at Main Stage*. From now on, when you favorite an artist, you also automatically set a reminder for the performances at the event. More on this below.
On top of that, favoriting artists leads to a **personally curated music playlist**. Also, when your app is linked to a Customer Data Platform (CDP), this data is key for enriching your user profiles.

### 2. ⏱ Reminder = for Performances

Analytics and user feedback learned us that favoriting and setting reminders should be more engaging and woven into the overall experience. Many clients reported that it didn't make sense that artists couldn't be favorited, only their performances...

So here's the new approach:

* When favoriting an artist, automatically, we set a reminder for all the performances linked now (or added in a later phase closer to the event).
* Reminders can be turned off on the artist detail page or 'My Event' sections.
* **Reminders are what trigger the 'Reminder Push Notifications'**.

### 3. 📌 Pin a POI = your favorite spots on the event

Once the interactive map goes live, we allow the users to navigate the holy grounds on their smartphones. The blue dot (locate me) that they are used to on Google Maps makes it very easy to find their way around. We use a 'pin' icon (or a heart) to allow the user to prioritize locations on the map.

### 4. Revamped 'My event' section

During the event, we see a lot of activity in these sections of the mobile apps. This is the perfect tool to personalize the whole experience and filter on things that only matter to you.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/IMG_0016-PNG.png)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/IMG_0015-PNG.png)

* **My Playlist**: when artists (with music) get favorited throughout the app, we curate a personal playlist with their top tracks from Spotify
* **My Event**: when performances get bookmarked, we automatically install a personal calendar with all upcoming events you're going to
* **My Places**: apps with interactive maps will show a section of bookmarked POIs, ideal for keeping that cocktail bar or pasta place close by

# Key differences among different timetable views

**A quick overview of the many different views on how to embed your timetable or programmation in your event app.** In the Appmiral menu interface, there are different views/screens dedicated to the Artists and Programmation. Based on the feedback from our clients, we've adapted our database in such a way that artists can now become visible in their mobile apps when being announced. That means **without an exact day, stage or timing.**

## 1. Schedule view = typical timetable blocks

This screen allows you to filter **by day** or **by favoriting behavior**. In the right top corner, you are able to reshuffle and prioritize the stages to your musical preferences.

### 2. Horizontal view = This view is suggested for events that have 3 or more stages

Stage names appear on the left side and we can scroll to the right to see all performances. You can change edition days on the top of the screen.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_2025-02-05-14-52-30-40_fdc4f2754c69bfd4619edf851bac4e46-jpg.jpeg)

### 3. Lineup view = artist images with data

This screen is **more visual** than the timing blocks from the schedule view. This is great for understanding and exploring who's paying when and where. As they say, sometimes a picture says more than a thousand words.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/IMG_1963.png)

### 4. Artist view = artist images without data

Different than on the Lineup view, you can't filter on day or stage. This is just a visual list filled with images linking to all the artists playing at your event.

This screen is ideal to use upon the first announcements or when your audience just wants to explore all the artists in an easy way.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/IMG_3836.png)

### 5. Calendar view = agenda-like overview of events

A similar view to the lineup view but with bigger placeholders. This is more of a list view ideally for **conferences** or **venues** to add their calendar to the apps. The larger image space and accompanying text placeholders can be more suitable for some organizers than the classic lineup view.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/IMG_3840.png)

### **6. Scrollable calendar view = This view is suggested for events that last for extended periods of time**

This view will showcase edition days on top that can be scrolled horizontally, and the list of events changes below.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240807-145815_Beat_Venues.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-112708_Sing_Out_Loud.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-113058_Global_Dance.jpg)

### 7. List view = This view is suggested for artisis who perform multiple times.

This overview may be used to simplify the schedule and display performances chronologically
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20250114-114217_ZU.jpg)

### 8. Multiple schedules, Lineup, Artist views = We are now able to segment the schedule, artist or lineup views to accommodate different activities happening throughout the event.

This can be used for food vendors, activities, separate venues etc. With these views you can separate the schedules into different menu options, so users can easily find timings for diverse activities. Additionally, we can have the same view or a mixture of the views aforementioned for these menu options.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-114808_Bergenfest.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-114826_Bergenfest.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-114818_Bergenfest_(1).jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-123327_Way_Out_West.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-123351_Way_Out_West.jpg)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Screenshot_20240823-123905_Way_Out_West.jpg)

# Boost your app downloads

**Boosting your app downloads is crucial for enhancing user engagement and attracting potential sponsors.**Drawing inspiration from successful strategies employed by various organizations, here are some key tactics to consider:

**1. Consistent Promotion Before Launch**

* **Website Integration**: Feature a prominent download link or banner on your website's homepage to direct visitors to your app.
* **Social Media Campaigns**: Regularly post about your app on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. Highlight unique features and benefits to entice your audience.
* **Benefit-Focused Content**: Create engaging content, such as videos or blog posts, that demonstrate the app's value and functionality before the start of the event.

**2. Add a download banner to your website**

Make it as easy as possible for users to download the app. Since many visitors will browse your website, consider placing a prominent download banner at the top of your site or near key sections. This increases visibility and encourages more downloads.

**3. Offer Exclusive In-App Content**

* **Schedule Only in-app:** Offering the timetable exclusive in the app for a limited time will boost the app downloads.
* **Early Releases**: Provide app users with early access to announcements, features, tickets, encouraging downloads for exclusive content.
* **Special Features**: Include app-only content like the interactive map, ticket wallet, or gamification to enhance user engagement.
* **Social Media Integration**: Link your app with your social media Instagram account to ensure a steady stream of fresh content within the app.

**4. On-site promotion**

* **Physical Signage**: At the event locations, use signs with QR codes that link directly to your app's download page, facilitating direct access to the app.
* **Push Notifications:** Send timely and relevant push notifications to keep users engaged and encourage word-of-mouth promotion.

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Artboard-png.png)

Implementing these strategies can significantly enhance your app's visibility and download rate. Consistent promotion, exclusive content, and strategic on-site marketing are key components in driving user engagement and attracting a broader audience.

# How to Boost Your In-App Engagement

**Getting users to download your app is just the beginning. The real challenge? Keeping them engaged all year. In-app engagement is all about delivering value, creating habits, and building a space users genuinely want to be in.**Here are a few tips how:

## 1. 🎯 Personalize the Experience

**Make users feel like the app is made for them.**

* **Favourites \& Interests**Let users tailor their experience---whether it's setting their favorite artists, selecting interests, or customizing notifications.
* **Smart Content Delivery** Use smart cards that only appear when a user hasn't completed key actions---like filling in their profile or enabling notifications. It's a subtle nudge to drive engagement and boost personalization. Want to set this up? Just reach out to your CSM.

*** ** * ** ***

### 2. 🔔 Use Push Notifications Wisely

**The right message at the right time makes all the difference.**

* **Timing is Key**Don't overdo it. Send alerts based on user activity---like a reminder if they haven't opened the app in a few days.
* **Value-Driven Alerts** Push news, updates, exclusive content, or personal rewards---things that make opening the app *worth it*.
* **Less is more** Push notifications are fast and very common on everyone's phones these days. Don't add too much text but focus on a strong CTA to increase the click-through rate.

### 5. 🔄 Keep It Fresh

**Consistent updates and fresh content are engagement fuel.**

* **Weekly or Monthly Content Drops**New features, blog posts, videos, playlists---whatever fits your app, keep it flowing.

# In-app Ticket Wallet

**Event goers deserve a seamless experience, one that isn't fragmented across apps, emails, and paper tickets.Make your event access smooth and stress-free with our integrated in-app ticket wallet.**

Visitors can securely store and present their tickets directly inside the app, no need to dig through emails or switch between platforms at the gate. This integrated approach reduces friction at the gate and gives visitors peace of mind, knowing their ticket and everything they need to access your event is right where they need it.

## Flexible by Design

* **Customized, branded ticket visuals:** Ticket visuals can be styled based on brand identity, ticket type or consumer type.
* **Dynamic ticket content:** Display ticket-specific details such as entrance instructions, sponsor mentions, or visitor-specific information directly on the ticket.
* **Multiple ways to link tickets\* :** Visitors have multiple options to link their tickets: they can manually scan or enter a barcode, or choose a more seamless approach by linking multiple tickets at once via a deeplink or by syncing through their account.

*Note: Some linking methods require support from the ticket partner. Syncing via account requires a log in system supported by both the app and ticket provider.*
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Ticketwallet%20screens-png.png)

### Securely and Seamlessly Connected

* **Smart ticket refresh:**Tickets can be refreshed, allowing invalid or resold tickets to be updated or removed. Barcodes can also be hidden until a specific time to prevent resale through unofficial channels.
* **Two-step verification:**As an optional layer of security, our ticket wallet can verify users via email or phone number before linking a ticket, making sure only the rightful owner can link their tickets to the app.
* **Built to integrate with your ticketing partner:**Our Ticket Wallet comes pre-integrated with platforms such as CM.com, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Eventim, Showpass, Tixly, and more.

*Is your ticketing partner not listed? Bring us in touch, we'll walk you through the steps and see if an integration is possible.*

# Spotify Personalized Artist Recommendations

**Our new Spotify integration add-on helps your festival to deliver personalized artist recommendations to your audience.**By connecting a Spotify account, users allow the app to analyze their listening habits and automatically suggest artists from your festival lineup that best match their music preferences.

This feature helps attendees **discover relevant artists** , increases **user engagement** and encourages them to explore more of the festival lineup directly within the app.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/spotify%20recc%20(1).png)

*** ** * ** ***

## How It Works

1. **User Connects Spotify:**

* The user chooses to connect their Spotify account through the app.
* A standard Spotify authorization screen appears.
* Once permission is granted, the integration can securely access listening insights such as top artists and genres.

1. **Listening Behavior Analysis**

* After authorization, the system analyzes the user's Spotify listening data.
* The platform compares the user's listening patterns with the artists included in your **festival lineup**.

1. **Artist Matching**

* Based on the analysis, the system identifies artists in your lineup that best align with the user's listening preferences.
* These artists are then automatically recommended to the user inside the app.

*** ** * ** ***

### Where Users See Their Recommendations

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/spotify_rec_-_Newsfeed_(1)_(1).png)

### 1. Personalized Recommendations Menu

A dedicated **menu option** can be added to the app where users can:

* View their personalized artist suggestions
* Manage or refresh their recommendations
* Explore matched artists from the festival lineup

This section acts as the central place where users can discover artists tailored to their taste.

### 2. Newsfeed Carousel Card

To increase visibility, the platform also automatically creates a **carousel card in the user's newsfeed**.

The carousel:

* Displays recommended artists based on the user's Spotify listening behavior
* Encourages quick discovery directly from the app's main feed
* Updates dynamically as recommendations are generated

When a user taps an artist in the carousel, they are taken directly to the **artist's in-app profile page**, where they can view:

* Artist description
* Performance details
* Schedule information
* Playlist

*** ** * ** ***

### Benefits for your festival experience

**Increase Artist Discovery**

Help attendees find artists they are likely to enjoy based on their real listening behavior.

**Improve App Engagement**

Personalized content encourages users to return to the app and explore more of the lineup.

**Enhance User Experience**

Users spend less time searching and more time discovering relevant performances.

**Promote Emerging Artists**

Smart matching can introduce attendees to new artists in the lineup they may not yet know.

**User Data** As the user base grows, more people are willing to like and follow artists, giving richer data insights.

**Strong partnership opportunity** This add-on creates a valuable collaboration where artists can be sponsored by a partner, benefiting both sides.

# Deliver design assets

By providing us all relevant design assets, our team will brand the application into your event's look \& feel, completely matching your identity.

**🔜 Please provide us a .zip/Dropbox/WeTransfer that includes the requested assets below by mail to your Customer Success Manager.**

## STEP 1: Deliver your d**esign assets**

* branding guidelines and/or style guide

* color schemes (hex colors used; format #xxxxxx)

* visuals (images, background patterns, ...)

* all logos (big and small - preferably in vector format)

* fonts as ***.ttf*** (with guidelines on the usage of caps, lowercase, ...)

* *optional:* sponsor logo embedded on the splash screen (logo, guidelines, ...)

* optional: video carousel for the newsfeed: send video in **1125 x 843px** in a file with **10MB** max. (consult with your customer success manager)

You can find some additional visual templates [here](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RzyVSdaW-EjCKxotWyV9WhzhlZPaSDoF?usp=drive_link).
Please make sure you have the appropriate font licenses for both mobile applications and website, as different licenses may be required, before delivering the necessary fonts to our design team.

### STEP 2: Validate your designs

After finishing the designs, our team will send you an Marvel link that includes over 20 screens of your app designs implemented in our framework. This tool allows you to make comments directly on the different screens.

If this won't work for you, just drop a mail towards your Customer Success Manager with your bundled feedback, attached with the necessary screenshots.

🔎 IMPORTANT: *all the* *screens on Marvel are filled with dummy data (stages, performances, POI, ...) so only give feedback on the design, not the content itself*

# Deliver or add your timetable data

Appmiral allows you to import and synchronize your timetable data in many different ways. Up to you to choose what method suits you best.

* ++APPMIRAL IS++ ++**NOT**++ ++THE SOURCE OF TRUTH++ 1. Synchronized between website and app with a **JSON** 2. Integrated with **planning software**like Beatswitch
* ++**APPMIRAL IS THE SOURCE OF TRUTH**++ 3. **Manual input** via the Appmiral CMS 4. Use the **Appmiral API** to send data to your website

## 1. Import \& sync timetable data with your website

Most of our clients use their existing web agency to generate the assets needed to import data into our database. Creating a JSON with the specified Appmiral structure takes about 0,5 days of additional work for a developer.

Having a JSON (live feed) will **synchronize** all **artists and stages**between your website and mobile application. No double input is needed.

[Link to developer documentation and JSON examples.](https://help.appmiral.com/technical-info/data-importers/appmiral-timetable-v3-vendor-importer)

### 2. Importing from planning software tools

When you are using [Beatswitch](https://beatswitch.com/) festival software no input is needed. Appmiral is integrated with its API and databases for seamless import and sync.

### 3. Manual input via the Appmiral CMS

### **3.1 Adding your artists**

It all starts by adding your artists to the CMS. These will be the foundation on which you'll be creating the complete schedule.

*Tip: make sure the artist is as centered as possible on the image for the best possible visibility on the application's different screens.*
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2OhrYDXbuY>

### **3.2 Adding your stages**

You need to add the stages so you can link performances later to a stage (mandatory field). By default, the stages will get color, but you are free to change these colors whenever you like.

Enrich a stage detail page by adding an image and a short description.

*Tip: make sure the colors are readable according to your application designs.*
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKVi84Bkm5M>

### **3.3 Adding performances**

Adding performances can be done in 'draft mode' as long as the checkbox 'Published' is unchecked. From the moment you check this box, the performance will be visible in your application on either the schedule and line-up screen. Or both.
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIdnUKzWVKk>

💡 Tips

* When a performance ends after midnight, it's day +1. **START** : Aug 23, 2019, 11:00:00 PM **END**: Aug 24, 2019, 01:00:00 AM
* Adding social links will make the artist's detail way more engaging.
* Ideally, the resolution for the artist's images is a minimum of 1.500 px
* The exact Spotify URI can be found below 👇

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/spotify_artist_top_tracks_url.png)

### 4. Use the Appmiral API to populate your website

Find all relevant API documentation here.

# Deliver your practical information

## Introduction

The Appmiral Pages Importer allows you to import all your practical information (such as FAQs, rules, contact info, etc) from your website into Appmiral and keep them in sync. This importer expects a URL containing a valid JSON file conforming to our provided JSON structure. This URL can be a static .json file hosted online or public API endpoint.

Every 15 minutes, the importer will perform a request to the URL and sync the contents to your Appmiral CMS as Pages. This means that when the info is changed, it takes a maximum of 15 minutes before those changes are reflected in the Appmiral CMS and the app.

### Translatable Fields

Translatable fields can be either a string or an object containing strings for multiple languages.

* When a translatable field contains a simple string, it applies to the default language only.
* When a translatable field contains an object, it sets values for each specified language. The default language must always be included. **The key must be the short locale of the language!**

In the example below, the "title" field is translatable but identical across all languages. In such cases, you may simply use a string for the field.

```
{
  "title": "Page title"
}
```

In the next example, the field name is translatable with different values for English and Dutch. When English is the default language, the "en" key must always be included.

```
{
  "title": {
    "en": "Page title",
    "nl": "Pagina titel"
  }
}
```

**Info:** We currently support the following languages and locales: English (en), Arabic (ar), Czech (cs), Danish (da), Dutch (nl), Finnish (fi), French (fr), Galician (gl), German (de), Greenlandic (kl), Hebrew (he), Italian (it), Norwegian (nb), Polish (pl), Romanian (ro), Spanish (es), and Swedish (sv).

Note: Are you unsure which languages your application is using? Check your CMS or reach out to your dedicated **Customer Success Manager**.

# Gamification - Required Assets

**This article provides detailed information about our gamification tool, including content and design deliverables, along with the estimated timeline for completing the preparations.**
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/Tomorrowland_pop_badge-1.webp)

So, how do we merge the digital experience with the physical energy of live events? Imagine festival attendees embarking on digital scavenger hunts, scanning QR codes amid the vibrant festival atmosphere to earn branded badges. Picture them linking their Spotify accounts, favouriting artists, and engaging in over 20 unique app sessions, all to unlock exclusive rewards.

In addition to engaging with your audience in a fresh way, **this feature opens up a world of opportunities for creating new sponsorships and partnerships, while seamlessly gathering valuable visitor data**.

## 1. Game Options

### 1.1 Location triggered: Scavenger Hunt (Basic)

This package is ideal for a 1st step into booditing your festival engagement. It supports badge creation (via the CMS) and QR code scanning (within the app) to deliver essential gamification mechanics, perfect for in-app scavenger hunts and boosting overall app usage. When integrated with our geofences, QR scanning becomes optional, as badges can be unlocked based on actual location data.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/visual_2.png)

### 1.2 Location triggered + Data triggered (Advanced)

This advanced package goes beyond traditional scavenger hunts, introducing sophisticated game concepts and collectible features that fully immerse attendees in the festival experience. With enriched gamification mechanics, integrations with platforms like Jebbit, and customized user experiences, we can now transform festivals into immersive journeys. The module enables gamified in-app behavioral triggers linked to sponsors, amplifying engagement and sponsorship activation.

### 2. Deliverables

For each badge you need to prepare the content described below. Besides the badges that are connected to a game, you can **optionally add an extra "Game Completed-badge"** . This badge will automatically be unlocked after unlocking all the other badges. Every badge has **a locked and an unlocked status**. Besides the badges, you can also add additional (sponsor) banners at the top of the badge-overview page.

### 2.1 Badges

Locked content:

* Name
* Badge icon on overview (1000 x 1000px)
* Summary (text only)
* Badge icon on detail page (1000 x 1000px)
* Description on detail page (rich text available via html)

Unlocked content:

* Name
* Badge icon on overview (1000 x 1000px)
* Summary (text only)
* Badge icon on detail page (1000 x 1000px)
* Description on detail page (rich text available via HTML)

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Group%205.png)

⚠️ There is no character limit on the name/summary and detail description. However, we advise to keep it as short as possible with a strong incentive to play.

### **2.2 (Sponsor) Banner at the top of the badges overview (optional)**

* 0.1: 1500 x 216px
* 0.2: 1500 x 296px
* 0.3: 1500 x 388px

### 3. Timeline

Creating a game often involves multiple parties simultaneously --- design teams, marketing teams, partnership teams, and external partners. This can make **the process time-consuming** , so it's crucial to start **setting up your gamification module early**.

With our most recent 2025 app framework, it's **no longer needed to do an app-update** to start with this module. So you can get started straight away from your current CMS!

The timeline below is a rough estimate. Be sure to **discuss** the project process and deadlines **with** **your Customer Success Manager** to ensure alignment.

**9 weeks before the game start**

* Confirmation of going ahead with the module. The badge and game ideas are discussed with your customer success manager and the involved partner.

**8 weeks before**

* All the deliverables as described above are ready

**7 weeks before**

* Gamification module training by Customer Success Manager

**7 - 5 weeks before**

* You create the games in the CMS and make sure all the content is in place

**5 weeks before**

* You receive a hidden in-app link so you can test the gamification module in the existing application

**4 weeks before**

* Live demo supplied to partner

**2-3 weeks before**

* Final testing and last amendments to content and badges

**Launch** 🚀

# Add links to pushes and cards

## **Sometimes cards and pushes need to be linked directly towards another piece of content. Most of them are linked to web content but you can also easily link towards other screens within your application.** There are 4 linking possibilities here:

* No link
* Link to another website
* Link to another part of the app
* Link to another application

### 1. No link

Not all messages (push or card) need to be enriched with an internal or external link.

**💡 Typical examples**

* Warning message
* 'Experience' push notification - Welcome at the camping grounds, toilets and showers are in the back. - Welcome to Extrema Outdoor. Have an awesome party!

### 2. Link to another website

In most cases, links are being embedded towards external web content.

**💡 Typical examples**

* Ticket shop
* Merchandising
* Partner website
* Games / contests / competitions / ...
* Surveys
* ...

### 3. Link to another part of the app

For the more advanced pushes and cards, linking within the application towards other screens can **drive traffic** to certain pieces of content.

The card type 'Practical' has been pre-configured for you and will show you an automatic dropdown of the different Practical pages that you created earlier.

### 4. Link to another application

[Contact us](mailto:service@appmiral.com) for instructions.

*🚨 Note that you can't re-direct towards all applications by default. For iOS, we need to know this upfront and whitelist the specific app ID's in the codebase while submitting the apps in the Apple Store.*

# Create content cards

**Your content or newsfeed is probably the place where your audience will spend most of the time in the app.** The engagement feed is also the **home screen** of the app and the first thing a user sees when opening the apps. We see that over 60% of the app traffic is being generated by this functionality.

We've made this feed contextual, meaning that all the different card types will have a **different priority based on the momentum in time**.

## How to create a new card in your app?

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Screenshot%202025-09-11%20at%2009-53-26-png.png)

### STEP 1 = pick your 'card type'

Each card type has its own design, specific for a type of content. Some of the cards (info and promo) can be restyled into whatever color pattern you prefer.

### **🔆 Info card**

* a high priority before and during the event
* most versatile card of all mostly used to announce things like weather, sponsors activations, activities, general information, ...
* design is in the festival theme by default, but can be easily changed in the CMS:

1. add thumbnail and detail image
2. change background
3. change font colors

* title and body text can be entered in the CMS

### **📮 Newspost card**

* a high priority before and during the event
* bigger visual appearance than info cards:

1. full image instead of smaller thumbnail on info cards

* the text below the image is limited to about 125 characters
* design is locked but the image can be uploaded

### **👀 Promo card**

* **new** to the family
* this card is just an image, no text to be added from the CMS
* linked to whatever web or in-app content
* you design your own image/banner/button/whatever ... and upload it in the app as an image:

*1. high resolution // + 1500px // rectangle looks best*

### **🚨 Warning card**

* a high priority **during** the event
* stands out by its red-colored text
* card design is locked and can't be restyled
* title and body text can be entered in the CMS

### **⏱️ Countdown card**

* a high priority **before** the event
* card design is locked and can't be restyled
* linked to whatever web or in-app content

### **💎 Carousel card**

* showcase cards horizontally
* most versatile card of all mostly used to announce things like sponsors activations, headliners, social media, etc
* this card is just an image, the text below the image is limited
* linked to whatever web or in-app content

# How to improve Accessibility in your app

**Meeting accessibility requirements is mandatory by the end of June 2025. Use the guidelines below to make sure your app is compliant.**
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slKtCYAmcIA>

Accessibility is essential. It ensures your app can be used by everyone, including people with disabilities, and improves the overall user experience.

Our platform now includes improved screen reader support and better visual contrast. But to fully meet accessibility standards, the way you manage content in the CMS also matters.

## 1. Text Alternatives (Alt Text)

Providing alternative text (alt text) helps screen readers describe visual content to users who are visually impaired.

* Add alt text for all images in the newsfeed:

1. Promo cards
2. News posts
3. Logos
4. Carousel cards

* Ensure icons without text labels include descriptive metadata.

*Tip: Keep alt text concise but specific. Describe the purpose or content of the image, not just its appearance. Example: "Crowd dancing at the mainstage of Tomorrowland 2024 during the Saturday headliner set."*
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/1-%20Text%20Alternatives%20(Alt%20Text)@2x-png-1.png)

### 2. Visual Contrast

Good contrast ensures readability for users with visual impairments.

* Use strong contrast between text and background elements.
* Choose legible fonts and appropriate sizes.
* Avoid placing text directly over complex images.

Use tools like [colorshark.io](https://colorshark.io/) to test contrast ratios.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/2-%20Visual%20Contrast@2x-png.png)

### 3. Link Text

Use meaningful, descriptive text for all links. Avoid generic phrases like:

* "Click here"
* "Read more"

**Recommended:**

* "View the full lineup"

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/5-%20Page%20Structure@2x-png.png)

### 6. Videos

All video content should be accessible to users who are deaf or hard of hearing:

* Include subtitles for all pre-recorded videos.
* Add alt text or a short written summary describing the video's content and purpose.

Flashing or rapidly animated content can trigger seizures or cause discomfort for some users.

* Avoid excessive flashing, especially in videos or carousels.
* Provide an option to hide or replace flashing content with static images.

### 8. Font Size

Small text can be difficult to read, especially on mobile devices.

* Use a minimum font size of 16px for body text.
* Avoid using decorative or hard-to-read typefaces.
* Prioritize clarity and legibility in all design elements.

### 9. Multilingual Support

Whenever possible, provide content in multiple languages to accommodate a broader audience.

* Ensure that translations are complete and accurate.

### 10. Tags and Metadata

Tags help users filter and understand content quickly.

* Use clear, consistent tagging for all content types.
* Avoid redundant or overly generic tags.

### 11. Text Over Images

Text placed over images can often be hard to read.

* Avoid this layout when possible.
* If necessary, use a high-contrast background overlay to preserve readability.

Improving accessibility in your app is a shared responsibility. While the platform provides the tools and infrastructure, content managers play a crucial role in ensuring a usable experience for all users.

# Pre-Submission Checklist for Test Applications

**This checklist is designed to help you review all key elements in your app and understand which changes require an app update or only require a change in the CMS:**

* ✅ **Do NOT require an app update**, and can be made live immediately.
* ⚠️ **Do require an app update** , and will need a new submission to the app stores. **Click the button below to access the checklist and use it when checking your test applications.👇**

![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/checklist.png)

*** ** * ** ***

## Why This Matters

Once your apps are live in the App Stores, any changes that require an app update will also require your end users to **manually or automatically update the app on their devices** to see the latest version.

To avoid unnecessary updates and provide a smoother experience for your users, we strongly recommend using this checklist before submission. It helps ensure your app is as complete and future-proof as possible from day one.

*** ** * ** ***

### What You Should Do

* **Review the test applications carefully using the checklist** before submitting your application to the App Stores.
* **Double-check every key component**: visuals, navigation, integrations, and settings.
* Aim to catch any features or changes that might later require a full app update.

Doing this helps minimize the number of times we need to submit new versions to the app stores, saving time for both you and your users.

If you have questions about any specific feature or whether a change requires an app update, feel free to reach out to your Customer Success Manager, we're here to help.

*** ** * ** ***

**Pro Tip:** The fewer updates your app requires after going live, the better the experience for your users. Let's make the first version count! ✅

# FAQ

## News

* **What is the ideal size for the newsfeed carousel?**

○ The ideal size of the newsfeed carousel is 1125 x 843px.

* **Can I add a video to the carousel myself?**

○ Currently it's not possible to add a video yourself by the CMS. Feel free to share the video with your customer success manager and he will add it for you.

* **Can the newsfeed carousel items scroll automatically?**

○ It is possible to automatically scroll through the newsfeed carousels every few seconds. Let your customer success manager know between how many seconds you would like to scroll and he will get it adjusted for you.

* **Can I change the date the countdown card is counting down to?**

○ After creating the countdown card via the CMS scroll all the way down to the visibility section. There you have a section called *until* which is the date and time the countdown card is counting down to. So just change the *until* date and you will have adjusted your countdown card.

* **Can these be added without an app update?**

○ Adding content cards via CMS can be done without doing an update. After creating the cards, they will be visible in the application.

* **How do I change the color of a card on the newsfeed?**

○ All the different card types within the application have a fixed design. However, there is one card type called info on which you can adjust the designs yourself whenever creating the cards. Scroll down to the design section where you can adjust the background color, the title colour and the body and link colour. You can even decide if the image should be left or right aligned. You can select a color using the color selector within the CMS or you can add a hex color codes yourself.

* **How can I link a card to a website?**

○ Yes, linking a card to a website internally or externally is possible. You can choose between link to website which is opening a website in a web view or you can link it to link to a website in the browser which will open an external web view.

* **I want to make the card clickable, how?**

○ Whenever you add a body text to an info or newspost card, it will automatically become clickable and the user will get redirected to a detail page. You can also add a link to each card-type by scrolling to the link section in the CMS. You can choose between different link types starting from link to a part of the application, link to a website or link to a website in the browser.

* **What is the difference between a link to a website and a link to website in the browser?**

○ Linking to a website within the application means that you open up a website in a web view and you stay in the app environment while linking to a website in the browser will open up an external browser on top of your application. The last option is mostly used when linking to a ticket shop or merchandise website where there is a payment infrastructure built that website. Sometimes payments can get blocked in a web view. Therefore, we always have the option to link it to a browser as well.

* **Do I need to fill in the translatable content, even if it's the same as the default language?**

○ When creating content in the CMS, it's important to always fill in the default language first. Whenever you've done so, you can switch to the other languages by using the selector at the top. If you don't fill in a translatable field, the content will fall back on the default language and will be shown in the application to all users.

* **How do the card priorities work?**

○ You can decide where you want to put cards on the news feeds and you can do that by changing the priority on the cards overview within the CMS. By changing the number to, for example, 1 you will make sure that the card is now all the way at the top of the news feed, while if you go to a lower number, for example 100, it will be lower. Try to not use 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on, but use 10, 20, 30, 40 and so on because then you create some margin for it you want to add a card in between at a later time.

* **How long does it take before my changes reflect in the application?**

○ Usually changes reflect within the application after one or two minutes.

* **Can I limit the amount of Instagram cards at the same time on the newsfeed?**

○ If you want to limit the amount of Instagram cards that are shown on the news feed at the same time, reach out to your customer success manager and he can get it adjusted for you.

* **What is the ideal size of a promo card?**

○ There is no fixed size for a promo card. The promo card can be used to highlight a partner, but also a ticket shop or a merchandise shop so you can decide how big that card should be. Ideally you go for a width of 1000px, but the height can vary based on how small or big you want the promo card to be.

* **What is the ideal size of the background image of the countdown card? / Can I change the background of the countdown card?**

○ Adjusting the background of a card on the news feed is possible by going to the design section while editing the card. Upload the new background image. There are also help texts within the CMS that will help you upload the ideal size or the ideal type of image.

* **Can I import Instagram posts on the newsfeed?**

○ Yes. We can connect your Instagram Account to the newsfeed and automate the posts flowing into the application. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager to link the account.

## Push Notifications

* **Can I translate a push notification?**

○ It's not possible to translate a push notification via the CMS. If you want to send a push notification to two languages, you need to send it to each language separately.

* **Is there a character limit on a push notification?**

○ Within the CMS, while creating a push notification, you will get prompted with a limit to both the title and the body text of a push notification. It's important to create a good but short push notification with a strong call to action so users click on this push notification, redirecting to an internal app page or for example a ticket shop.

* **Can I add rich text to a push notification?**

○ Adding rich text to a push notification is not possible. However, you can use emojis to make your push notifications a bit more playful.

* **I want to send a push notification based on a user's location during the event. How can I do that?**

○ If you want to send a push notification based on the user's location during the event, reach out to your customer success manager and he will share the different options available.

* **I want to send a push notification to a selected group of people?**

○ If you want to send a push notification to a selected group of people, reach out to your customer success manager and he will share the different options available.

○ When adding artists into the CMS, you will be prompted with a small subtext indicating the ideal size that you should use for uploading artist images.

* **Should I include text on the artist images?**

○ You should not include text on artist images. The reason for that is because the name of the artist will be on top of the artist image within the application on different screens. Therefore, it's important to keep the image as clean and clear as possible for the user.

* **What are tags?**

○ Tags are small keywords that you can add to all kinds of different content pieces within the CMS. For example, a tag could be the genre of an artist or the country that they're coming from. This way you give the user the option to easily filter on different keywords throughout the application.

* **What does the stage color do?**

○ The stage color gets visualized on the horizontal or vertical schedule views. The performances are visualized in a typical block view where you can see the stage colours. Make them as recognizable for the user as possible.

* **Are users able to re-order stages on the schedule?**

○ Yes, users can reorder a stage by dragging and dropping them in the filter section in the top right corner.

### Performances

○ Releasing more and more information, getting closer to the event, is definitely possible from within the Timetable \> Performances section in the CMS. You can decide what information you want to highlight or showcase at this specific moment. For example, you want to only showcase a day, then you can hide the times or you only want to showcase the day and the stage. If you need more information or help on this, please reach out to your customer success manager and he will help you further.

* **Two artists are performing at the same time, how can I manage this?**

○ Using our horizontal or vertical schedule, it's not possible to have two performances happening at the same time and at the same stage without having an overlap resulting in one of the performances not being visible. However, we do have other options available if you want to visualize performances that are happening at the same time. For example, our schedule list view where all of the performances are visualized in a list view instead of in a block view. Reach out to your customer success manager to switch to this view.

* **Can performance overlaps be ignored?**

○ No, it's not possible to have overlapping performances. If you have performances scheduled at the same time, you can either overwrite the performance name with both names or create a new artist entry specifically for that performance.

○ When you're creating a performance in the CMS, you can use the checkbox Hide Times in order to hide the time of that specific performance. ○ By default, performance reminders are stored locally on the user's device. To explore other options, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

○ If you want to create or visualize occupancy tags, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

○ Whenever your application has been approved and they are pending release, your customer success manager will reach out and discuss a release date together.

* **Can I adjust the app icon without an app update?**

○ No, it's not possible to adjust an app icon without an app update. Reach out to your customer success manager if you want to adjust something that requires an app update.

* **Can I change the color of the navigation via the CMS?**

○ No, it's not possible to adjust the color of the navigation without an app update. Reach out to your customer success manager if you want to adjust something that requires an app update.

* **Splash Screen -- Can we add videos or animations? If so, what formats and file size limitations should we consider? Any technical details would be helpful.**

○ Currently, it's not possible to add a video/animation on the splash screen. However, we can add a looping video at the top of the newsfeed. Please share a video in 1125 x 843px, .mp4 format and your customer success manager will add this for you.

## Analytics

* **Can I export my analytics?**

○ You can export specific tables via the analytics pages in your CMS using the export icon at the top right of each table.

* **How can I see all of the user profiles that were gathered within the application?**

○ If your application contains a complete your profile page, reach out to your customer success manager if you want to get an export from all of the captured profiles.

* **Is the total users on the dashboard the active current users?**

○ The total users amount is the total amount of app users of the application up until this point. This is not your active users amount since the application does not track users deleting the application.

* **Can we see how many users deleted the application?**

○ No, it's not possible to see how many users deleted the application.

* **Is the number of users the same as the number of downloads?**

○ A user is counted from the moment they open the application for the first time. This means that not every download translates directly into a user. However, we can reasonably assume that the vast majority of people who download the app will open it at least once, and therefore be counted as a user.

* **Can I see how many times a push notification was opened?**

○ Yes, using the Content Insights page you can see analytics on your push notifications. For example, how many times was the push notification opened or to how many users was a push notification delivered to.

* **Where can I find metadata?**

○ Within the CMS, you can navigate to Analytics Insights via the left-hand menu. This section provides access to various types of data from your application, including real-time usage, audience insights, and content performance metrics.

# Apple 'Proof of Ownership'

**Apple - as we know - is always fierce on ensuring that the actual content owner is submitting the application. In most cases, a legal document that proves ownership is required.**Once your Apple Developer Account is up and running, our clients invite Appmiral (hello@appmiral.com) as a collaborator on this platform. We will then take care of all the App Store management for you.

## Why is this needed?

We've learned that Apple review teams always check whether the Apple Account holder is the actual Rights Holder for organizing this event. ***Especially when the name of the Apple Developer Account is different from the app name, and an extra document that states the link between these 2 parties.***
Make sure the name of the Apple Developer Account can be linked to the name of the application / organization.

The idea behind this is that Apple wants to ensure that there are no copyright or trademark violation issues that could lead back to them.

**What kind of documents will do the trick?**

* **If you are the Owner of the Brand** In case you are the owner of the brand or the business, you would have to submit documents supporting your claim.

**What are the essential elements that need to be included in this document?**

* You/your company's name
* Ownership between \[My Company\] and \[App Name\]
* The document should be signed and dated
* Details explaining the developer's affiliation with the business/entity/app

# Extra pricing for events with high server load

**Our standard pricing includes normal app traffic. For all events that have more monthly active users(MAU) than agreed in their pricing plan, we foresee a small additional monthly cost.**Below you can find an overview of the additional invoicing mechanism that will take place if your event overruns the agreed MAU's. Based on actual costs from the past years, we've calculated this transparent table.

## Approach

* Check happens at the end of the month based on Google Data Studio. This is the same analytics dashboard that you have access to in the CMS.
* Every month the amount of users surpasses the included traffic and load, Appmiral will send an invoice to the client as stated in the contract.

### Pricing overview

|--------------------------------|-----------------------------------|
| **Monthly active users (MAU)** | **Additional monthly cost (EUR)** |
| 0 - 50.000 MAU                 | FREE (included in FOUNDATION)     |
| more than 50.000 MAU           | 200 € (included in PROFESSIONAL)  |
| more than 100.000 MAU          | 300 €                             |
| more than 250.000 MAU          | 600 €                             |

# Basic Geofencing - location-based push messaging

**With our Basic Geofencing functionality, festival organizers can send geo-targeted push notifications to specific areas on-site, enabling location-based messaging and engagement. Regions**

Together with your Customer Success Manager, festival organizers can set up to five distinct regions. Each region is defined by a unique coordinate and radius, allowing for targeted push notifications to either broader or more specific areas on-site. Push notifications will be delivered to all users present within a region at the time of sending. Please note that users must have background location services enabled in order to receive these notifications.

**Manual and automatic messaging**

When creating a push notification, you can *manually* select a specific region to target.

Additionally, it's possible to configure *automatic* push notifications triggered upon entry or exit of a defined region. These messages can be set to send either once or every time a user enters or leaves the region, helping to boost engagement through timely, personalized communication.

For example:
Welcome to the best weekend of the year. Enjoy your time.

# Location-based messaging - dos and dont’s

## **A little help and guidelines on the difference between the messages that can be sent through the Crowd Connected platform**

**What is the difference between a manual message, a triggered message and a broadcast message?**

* A manual message is one that you have to press send yourself.
* A broadcast message is a message that is scheduled to be sent at a specific date and time in the future.
* A triggered message is a message that will be sent on ENTRY or EXIT to a region between two specific times. If a device is already present in the region it WILL NOT receive the message. It must have entered or exited the region.

Trigger messages are widely used for "Welcome to the festival", "Welcome to the campsite" and Goodbye, see you next year.

### **How do I send a message to app users "Present now" in a region or multiple regions?**

For either manual or broadcast messages, create a filter that is **IN** the specified region **BETWEEN** two times, where the 'from time' is 1 hour ago and the 'to time' is 15 minutes ago.

* If creating a broadcast message, the filter must be at least 15 minutes before the send time and this will be evaluated when creating the message. 👉 It will not be possible to save the message if this condition has not been met.
* If creating a manual message, this condition will be evaluated at the point of sending, so if the 15-minute gap has not elapsed from the 'to time', it will not be possible to send the message.

The reason for this 15-minute delay is to get higher number of delivery successes. In those 15 minutes, we can get as much location data from devices to get a complete picture of who was present. Due to various reasons, we do not always get data from devices when it is expected, primarily due to poor connectivity so it is possible a device might not send its data until a while after we would have normally expected it.
Therefore by **delaying** when we send to the user, we have a greater chance of capturing everyone who was actually there.

### **Can I send a message triggered on "Entry" (or Exit) but with the entry/exit trigger window starting in the past?**

No, this is not possible. The trigger window must be set to start **at least 15 minutes in the future.**However, any filters within the message can be set to any time in the past up until the end time of the trigger window.

### **Maximizing reach for a broadcast message**

It is better to choose a time window (i.e. BETWEEN time A and time B) rather than at a specific single point in time. So if you want to send a message to everyone seen in a region at approximately 4 pm on Thursday, we recommend using between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm (or similar) UNLESS there is a specific reason not to.

# Deliver map assets

**How to deliver your map assets**Within the Appmiral framework, there are 2 ways of adding a map to your app.

1. **Static map** image (only for our BASIC price-tier)
2. **Interactive map** (as part of the ADVANCED or PRO price-tiers)

## 1. Static map (BASIC price-tier)

Adding this kind of map can easily be done via our CMS.

🚨 Best to upload a .jpg with a **high resolution with min. size of 1.500px by 1.500px**

You can forward the static map directly to your Customer Success Manager.

### 2. Interactive map assets

For the interactive or dynamic map, our design team will need to take over the exact position of your festival/event location and all relevant Places Of Intrest (POI). This has to be done in a 'geo-accurately' way because our maps will be activated as an interactive layer on top of an Apple or Google map.

* ASSET 1: AutoCAD
* ASSET 2: Static Map
* ASSET 3: Any additional info of interest

**🔜 Please provide us a .zip/Dropbox/WeTransfer that includes the requested assets below by mail to your Customer Success Manager.**

### **ASSET 1: AutoCad of the actual festival grounds (in pdf)**

This is the most important document for us to draw the maps.

Make sure that all the different points on the map (POI) are clear for us to read and their polygon gives us the exact size for us to take over (ex. bar = small; stage is big)
If possible add the names to each POI (ex. Cocktail Bar, Mainstage, French Fries). These names can be adjusted later on from the CMS as well but will help us both to deliver a good map faster.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Screen_Shot_2017-04-12_at_13.19.31.png)

**Example 1** Implantation of the map in the environment is important for the accuracy of our map. For perfect geo-referencing, we need at least 3 clear points of reference added to the map: mostly fixed buildings and road intersections.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/unnamed%20(1).png)

**Example 2** Size, shape and color really matter. A defined color scheme (eg. red = food, blue = drinks, ...) makes it obvious for us to assign categories. The size of the bars and stages is important to make the map realistic and accurate while your visitors are navigating through the crowd.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/Map_assets.png)

**Example 3** It's easiest for both of us that the names of the POI are written next to each booth/POI. Although all names can be adjusted from the CMS, the more that is correct, the less work you'll have.

### **ASSET 2:** **Static Map (mostly) used for printing**

This kind of map helps us locate POIs faster and understand your location faster and better.
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/unnamed.jpg)

### **ASSET 3:** **Additional context or relevant information**

Inform us of POIs that should **not** become part of the map in the mobile application:

* include parking?
* include camping grounds?
* VIP?
* emergency exits, wheelchair access, ...

Below you can find the full list of possible POI categories that will be available by default from your CMS. Make sure to inform us if you are missing any categories, we need to add these before submitting the apps to the stores!

* Food
* Drinks
* Activities
* Partner

# Different map options

## **There are in total 3 different options to choose when implementing the interactive map in theapplication. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages when setting up.** Option 1: Static Map

Setup time: +/- 2 minutes

++Setup++

* The static map is a pre-designed map image that is being uploaded to the Appmiral CMS
* The format is JPG/PNG
* The static map is visible via a separate menu item in the application

++Advantages++

* The biggest advantage is that it is easy and quick to implement. When there is limited time available, this is the easiest way to go
* Clear and playful overview

++Disadvantages++

* Not interactive
* There is no additional POI information possible to add

++Examples++
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/IMG_8146.png)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/IMG_8147.png)

### Option 2: Pins Map

Setup time: +/- 1 day

++Setup++

* Apple/Google Maps as a base layer with interactive POIs on top
* Required locations need to be added via a Google Sheet (created by Appmiral)
* The initial upload and configuration is done via the Appmiral team
* Adjustments to the pins map are done via the Map Editor in the CMS

++Advantages++

* The pins map is ideal for city events with venues all around a big area
* Google and Apple Maps are well known, so this option offers a familiar look and feel for the end user
* The implementation is straightforward
* The map is geo-accurate with the blue dot being visible
* List view filtered per category making searching for POIs easier
* Extra content can be added to POIs via the CMS

++Disadvantages++

* It's less visual

++Examples++
![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/hubspot/IMG_8148.png)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/IMG_8149.png)![](https://appmiral-brand.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/knowledge-center/IMG_8151.png)

### Option 3: Polygon Map

Setup time: +/- 2 day

++Setup++

* Requires a geo-accurate plan (e.g. AutoCAD) of the festival organizer
* The initial upload and configuration is done via the Appmiral team
* Adjustments to the polygon map are done via the Map Editor in the CMS

++Advantages++

* The polygon map offers a great distinction between the different categories since it is custom-created with different colors and shapes
* The map is geo-accurate with the blue dot being visible
* List view filtered per category making searching for POIs easier
* Extra content can be added to POIs via the CMS

++Disadvantages++

* Since it is made from scratch, it can sometimes contain a lot of icons and colors. This makes it more difficult to maintain or to quickly see the relevant polygons for the users's end

++Examples++

### Option 4: Overlay Map

Setup time: +/- 2 day

++Setup++

* The overlay map is the most branded and visual map option
* Requires a geo-accurate plan (e.g. AutoCAD) of the festival organizer
